Oman Tour: Discover Bedouin Life in The Wahiba Sands

Drive along the tarmac highway to Quriyat and then along scenic mountainous roads until the white beaches of Finns. Further on stop at Wadi Shab, one of the more magnificent wadis of Oman. Take a stroll past the lush green estuaries of Wadi Tiwi and then go off road to Qalhat – an ancient natural port town now in ruins. Today Qalhat is the gas port of Oman. View the Bibi Maryam mosque, now a UNESCO heritage monument.

Visit the fishing town of Sur famed for its dhow building yards. Take the tarmac road to Al Mintrib, and then on to the Wahiba Sands where your guide will then drive you up a 200- meter sand dune to watch the sun set. At the 1000 Nights Camp a welcome drink of Omani coffee “Kahwa” dates & fruits will be served. BBQ dinner and overnight in traditional Bedouin tents.

Early morning your guide will drive you up a sand dune to enjoy your breakfast while watching the sun rise.

You will then go for a camel ride for about four hours, accompanied by a Bedouin guide, to see the stark beauty of the Wahiba Sands.

Return to the Camp to enjoy an Arabic BBQ lunch after which your guide will take you for a round of spectacular dune drives before leaving the camp and heading to one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis-Wadi Bani Khalid. The wadi gives you an opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the clear spring water and relax under the shade of the palm trees. Return to Muscat by late noon.

Turtle Beach

Muscat-Quriyat-Sur-Ras Al Hadd. Drive through beautiful mountainous countryside to the fishing town of Quriyat with its quaint fortress, and then turn off to the coastal road along Finns Beach with its white sandy beaches and rocky coves.

Proceed to Wadi Tiwi, a picturesque fishing village overlooking old houses, and a small fort which guards the entrance to this lush green wadi with fresh water that flows from mountain springs. Walk along banana plantations, date palms and up narrow rocky paths. Continue to the fishing town of Sur famed for its dhow building yards.

Late evening visit the turtle beach at Ras al Hadd, where many green sea turtles come to nest.
Overnight at the Turtle Beach Resort. Sur-Wadi Bani Khalid-Muscat. Proceed along the coastline via the fishing village of Al Ashkharah to Wadi Bani Khalid with its cool clear waters. It offers you an opportunity for a refreshing swim and to relax under the shade of palm trees. Proceed to Muscat by late noon.
